Memphis, TN Riverfront

Did you know that Memphis was designed to have a promenade along our riverfront?

(and it should be free and open for everyone.)

WHAT IS A PROMENADE?
Sketch: What Memphis's promenade could be

Promenade - A place where one takes a walk for leisurely pleasure or for exercise, especially by a sea, lake, or river. Promenades are found in communities around the world. We believe Memphians should have the right to enjoy this civic space, too.

WHERE IS IT?
Map: The land protected for a public promenade stretches from Union Ave to Jackson Ave.

The Public Promenade stretches from Market Ave to Union Ave, and from Front Street to the Mississippi River. This land is some of the most beautiful in our city and should be protected for our children and our children's children.

MEMPHIS'S RIVERFRONT IS AN ASSET THAT SHOULD BE PROTECTED AND ACCESSIBLE.

YES! The block between Union and Monroe is protected by an easement*. Neither the city nor Brooks owns it. ... They want to build a museum that creates a dead end to the greenway. *easement - a legal right to cross or otherwise use someone else's land for a specified purpose
